Colon & Rectal Surgery Fellowships

Why are fellows from across the country and around the world attracted to our program? Because we offer one-on-one interaction between faculty and the fellow, and we combine this approach with an extensive mix of procedures, patients and research. Our Section of Colorectal Surgery treats all varieties of colon and rectal disease, including:

  • Complex tertiary care cases involving re-operative surgery for both inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer,
  • Open, laparoscopic and robotic access procedures
  • Surgery for fecal incontinence and anorectal disease, and
  • A wide range of endoscopic and anorectal physiology procedures.

Our referral base encompasses most of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as well as Southern Indiana. We are affiliated with five teaching hospitals: the University of Louisville Hospital, Norton Hospital, Norton Children's Hospital, Jewish Hospital, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center. With the exception of the VAMC, all of the hospitals are located within a three-block radius in the heart of downtown Louisville.

Given our size and the depth and breadth of our experience, fellows become key members of our surgical and research teams. Moreover, they receive the individualized training they need to successfully launch their careers.

We invite you to take advantage of our unique training opportunities by applying to our program. More information.
