Department Holds 8th Annual Resident Olympics

The Department of Surgery recently held its Eighth Annual Resident Olympics, an event that focuses on several different skills-building activities. The objective of the program is to provide hands-on skills training for general surgery residents

Activities included:

  • Laparoscopic Suturing
  • Vascular Anastomosis
  • FLS Peg Transfer Drill
  • 6-0 Prolene Knot Tying
  • Fascia Closure
  • Operation Game

The overall winner this year was Matt Fox, overall second was Matt Golden, and overall third was Trevor Mathis. The winners of the individual events were:

  • Laparoscopic Suturing: Robby Cannon
  • Vascular Anastomosis: Jessica Weaver
  • Peg Transfer Drill: Swope Munday
  • Prolene Knot Tying: Noah Scherrer
  • Fascial Closure Drill: Michael Egger
  • Operation Game: Michael Egger
